There are moments in each of our lives when responsibilities, experiences, and feelings can become overwhelming. During some of these most stressful times, it can be difficult to figure out what to do next on your own. I hope that is where I can be of some assistance. I strive to provide a warm and comforting environment for you to come to therapy during times where it might feel challenging.
Much of my specialization aligns with a deep-seeded connection to women & their families, many of whom are “stuck” in the midst of transitions. Some navigating expected life-cycle stages (like “Empty Nesting” or job ambiguity), others are traveling (or meandering) through a hell of a surprise. Generally, those I work with the most are recognizing that Anxiety, Shame, or Stress has amplified due to their experiences.
As a therapist, yoga instructor, and reiki practitioner– two platforms through which I share strongly my passions and dedication to work that I believe can encourage resilience and healing for all – I will support you in addressing the mind-body connection.
We know that trauma can create physical symptoms ( know as somatic) in the body. Stressful life situations, chronic low self esteem, grief and loss, and/or an inner critic developed in childhood can also create physical symptoms. These symptoms range from headaches to stomach aches, sleep disruptions to back pain and more. Allow me to assist you in understanding and managing these very real discomforts using tools that will help you process and manage your emotions, create new patterns, and release physical tension and pain. I want to help you feel good in your body again.
Out of a collaborative, therapeutic rapport, you will be more prepared to clarify personal goals and make steps towards achieving them. This might mean building up your interpersonal relationships. Reducing social anxiety. Perhaps you are hoping to improve communication with loved ones. You might be in the midst of a significant life transition – anticipated or sudden – and are looking to approach this development more fluidly. I am here to listen and support you in moving through your life in a less painful way.
Most of the techniques I use stem from a core belief that each person has great potential to experience an enriched life. Much of my clinical orientation comes out of Narrative, Cognitive-Behavioral, Structural, and Intergenerational theory. I also encourage Mindfulness-Based techniques that cultivate self-awareness (in body and mind) and resiliency to handle change.
